Sunshine coast Massage Therapy

  • Long hours at the desk giving you a stiff neck?
  • Headaches ruining your day
  • Shoulders tight from hunched over your laptop?
  • Lower back hurting from working in the garden all weekend?
  • Legs screaming after that extra kilometre on the bike?
  • Demands of looking after kids and running the household got you frazzled?

I’ve got your back, neck and legs and it’s not as expensive as you think!

Massage is often seen as a luxury, but it’s really a legitimate therapy for many conditions and at its heart, massage is about human connection. It allows us to listen deeply to our own bodies and those around us.

Take care of your body. It’s the only place you have to live.

Jim Rohn

What happens at my first massage?

This isn’t a massage where you get on the table and you get tortured and then you leave. I want to know how you’ve hurt yourself. What movement you do or don’t do. How your sleep is. It mightn’t seem relevant, but it helps me paint a picture and look towards finding the root cause. I don’t just treat the branches.

Then I’ll leave the room while you take off your outer clothing. Depending on what your concerns are as to what I area of your body I need to access. A towel will be provided to cover yourself.

I maintain towel etiquette at all times to ensure your privacy and only uncover the area that is to be worked on. You will be warm and covered throughout your treatment and winter also has you feeling snug with a heated bed.

After your treatment, I will leave the room so you can get dressed in private.

What are the benefits of massage?

Not every massage may be for relaxation purposes, however most people feel a sense of calm and relaxation. Massage prompts the release of endorphins inviting the feelings of wellbeing. Stress hormones such adrenalin, cortisol and norepinephrine are also reduced.

Some of the benefits of massage include:

  • Assist in the reduction of stress by inducing relaxation
  • Reduce pain associated with muscular tension and soreness
  • Improved range of movement and increased joint mobility and flexibility
  • Stimulation of the lymphatic system
  • Increased circulation and improved energy
How often should you get a massage?

You service your car regularly and your body should be no different.

To help keep your body in good condition and assist in maintaining good health, I suggest a massage every three to five weeks. This potentially can assist in injury prevention and general build up of tension in the muscles.

If however, you are working with an acute injury, then you may need a few weekly treatments to get on top of the issue.

Are there any side affects?

Depending on the pressure applied during the massage, there may be some tenderness the next day. This can be indicative of the release of tension and increased blood flow to the tissues.

Sunshine Coast Remedial Massage

Massage is one of the oldest forms of healthcare systems in the world, with many cultures having recorded some form of massage method. Today there are still many styles of massage available, all having different and valuable therapeutic benefits.

It is the manipulation, manouvering and kneading of soft tissues, particularly muscles, to improve one’s health and wellbeing. Massage can be used to help with acute or chronic pain, especially from repetitive physical activities, rehabilitation from injuries and/or surgery, reduction of stress or anxiety and relaxation.

All massages are performed to focus on your areas of concern and the pressure will be adjusted according to your level of tolerance and comfort. Massage, of any style, doesn’t need to be painful or unpleasant to obtain a positive outcome. Your comfort is our priority and is the key to a positive treatment.

After massage care

Like a swim in the ocean on a hot day or a cup of tea on a cold morning, a good massage can hit that sweet spot and leave you feeling relaxed. Now staying in that zone for as long as you can is the challenge, so consider these few things.

  • When you jump back in your car, try and keep the chill going. Keep the heavy tunes for another time. It also helps you keep calm whilst driving.
  • Keep hydrated. Regardless of whether you believe it helps flush anything out of the body (mixed research on that), it’s beneficial to drink enough water. I also wouldn’t immediately go and knock back any caffeine or alcohol. Give yourself a few hours for your body to process the treatment on a cellular level.
  • Avoid strenuous activity for a few hours. Again, letting your body process the treatment.
  • Stress probably got your body all wound up, so try and avoid stress where you can. So don’t go calling anyone in the car after your treatment who is going to wind you back up.
  • If possible, schedule your next appointment at a time when you don’t have to go back to work or rush off somewhere else.

Invest in your healthcare and book your regular massage. I believe it’s not a luxury, but part of maintaining your body.
